A silent revolution took place in the academic annals of Puducherry (Formerly known as Pondicherry) in the year 2001. An upheaval in health education, in the spellbinding  shape of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute ,  introduced the first Medical College with majestic free hospital open to the public.Since then and till  now Puducherry  prides itself of having a trendsetting and modern institution attracting students not only domestically but also globally..  

Mahatma Gandhi Medical College stands strikingly as an architectural beauty, with its massive structures, on the east coast road , at Pillaiyarkuppam ,between Puducherry  and Cuddalore. His unquenched zeal for educational promotion brought a boon to Chennai adding one more Milestone with the birth of SHRI SATHYA SAI MEDICAL COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE last year.
